When buying a game monitor, it's easy to jump straight into specifications, model numbers and variations and come out on the other side, more confusing than when you started. What really you want is something that displays your games and media brilliantly, at a nippy refresh rate at the right price.
This little Gigabyte G27Q is the perfect case. It may seem a bit obvious and uninteresting on paper, but included in its relatively less exciting chassis is what we liked so much
we just found it forNew220 at Newegg, and you're getting a great monitor for a very reasonable amount of money for that price. It's a good idea. First, it's an IPS panel with a resolution of 2560x1440 with 92% DCI-P3 coverage and a 12M:1 dynamic contrast ratio. We found that the color reproduction was excellent and really had a great vividness that made it stand out from the pack.
At a 144Hz refresh rate, it's pretty nippy, too. That may not be enough for esports pros, but for the rest of us, the Ten FreeSync premium support to deliver eye-popping colors at speed is also a great bonus. When it comes to HDR, it is only rated on the VESA Display HD400. That said, it still has a lot of separation and definition from dark areas to light areas, and a brightness rating of 350nit. It would be nice if it handled HDR a bit more professionally, but the contrast is still pretty great on this particular display
Then there is connectivity. 2 HDMI2.0 ports and DisplayPort1.2 connections are fairly standard, but this monitor also has a USB3.0Type-a downstream port and 1 USB3.0Type-B upstream port.
That means you can easily attach all the peripherals to this small unit, and there's a dedicated headphone jack for the can. 2W integrated speakers, like most display integrated units, are quite rubbish, so you may need them.
Still, you can't have everything, ey' especially not at this price, the Gigabyte G27Q is a bit long tooth that works in our best game monitor guide, but even compared to recent competition, considering the budget 1440p monitor, it's still a close one.
It still has much of what you need, and very little of what you don't
