Final Fantasy14: Early access to Dawntrail is less than a month away — this can mean one thing: I just got all the Yo-Kai Watch event items right now Oh, yeah, and the official Dawntrail site is up, it's important too.
Unlike World of Warcraft, for example, FF14 has not publicly tested any upcoming expansion to maintain the sanctity of spoiler-free goodness. But it tends to drop obviously casually in its description to keep us salivating. This time most are small Popotos, but some new reveals that personally caught my Catboy-loving eye.
First takes place in the new raid series, Arcadian— the mysterious Cyberpunk solution Nine. It had been announced at the Japanese Fanfest on May 1, but there was not much to go away from the title. Well, now we have a whole paragraph of text to chew like a wild animal for the next four weeks, wowee:
"Here in Arcadian you can find a magnificent sight unlike any other. The biggest fighters of the realm throw fists against fists, magic against magic, the crowd howls and roars to life, each colliding viscerally more than the last, if you dare, step into the arena and stand up to become a champion or fall into disgrace forever."
Do you know what that means? Honestly, I'm all for it, given how high stakes the last raid series was. Also, for Naoki Yoshida to basically throw anything at us is a conceit — personally, I want a raid boss who fights with other Scion's big brawl brothers: brawl style.
There was also a petit lore about how the Pictomancer came to be: Apparently Archon Relm, named after FF6's Relm Arrowny, "abandoned her traditional staff for magic brushes" during the Magi war. But the war of Magi was about 3,000-1577 years ago, so those who want the realm itself to make a cameo will probably be disappointed. Who knows 'maybe she has a legendary skin care routine.
Finally Reveal the trio: We go to the Bermuda Triangle. Or, well, FF14 equivalent. In this expansion Bozja, a study of the field of the Shade Triangle, sees adventurers heading to a mysterious land infested with memories of lost sailors.
"Do not be fooled", warns the site,"By the lush and fertile islands you spy on the horizon—men and ships are likewise lost in their charm, never seen again. Yes, the wisest choice is to dismiss it as just an illusion. But, of course, there are necessarily those who can not resist the call of adventure."Me. I am a person who can not resist the phone.
Eventually it's the shade triangle I'm most looking forward to — I felt the field exploration zone wasn't terrible at Endwalker, and I went back and saw Dawntrail go into early access on 6/28 and a full release is scheduled for 7/2.
