The moment it became available on Steam, positive user reviews began pouring in for Elden Ring's new Shadow Of The Erdtree extension. As I write, the DLC has nearly 1000 ratings. None of these players have seen much of the land of shadows yet — the expansion is not news that we were initially led to believe and were barely out for hours
Steam reviews are primarily the vehicle players use to cheer or scorn the game, but this is not the case. Pure Goodwill is unthinkable today, another developer who commands the same level of "they do not miss" player trust, especially the developers who have released as many games as FromSoftware.
More than 550,000 Steam players are currently online on Elden Ring. The all-time high concurrent peak for the Elden Ring, recorded shortly after it launched 2 years ago, was 953,426 - you might see it outperforming that number this weekend.
Some players jumping for DLC will have to defeat Mohg, the Elden ring boss who must be killed to access the shadow of Erdtree's realm, and according to Steam's track record, only 39.3% of players took out that particular shard bearer. (If you need help with it, redditor has posted a strategy video to help you cheese your way past the boss quickly.
We gave Shadow of The Erdtree an impassioned review earlier this week, and prior to that we visited FromSoftware's studio in Tokyo to provide detailed features on creating extensions.
If you get stuck or need tips, we've also put together a huge collection of Erdtree Guide Shadows.
One simple tip before you start playing: Don't look at the shadow of the Erdtree launch trailer if you want to maximize the surprise. I have been informed by people who have already played game time that the spoiler is heavy, at least if you think the boss has revealed the spoiler.
