If you are even remotely familiar with "World of Warcraft," you may have heard the name Hurricane a few times. That's because the Machinima writers and their team have been commissioned by Blizzard in the past.

Yet that obviously hasn't stopped them from working on their own project. Yesterday, Hurricane & Co released a mock trailer for "World of Racetrack. World of Carcraft" was exactly what it looked like, but other than that, I'm in full support of this one, which has a Mad Max meets F1 vibe to it.

Like the previous trailers, "World of Racetrack" is a professionally styled piece that makes effective use of the game's assets (many of which have been extensively modded) and shows Azeroth transformed by its insatiable appetite for driving.

I was impressed with this cinematic vision. Some of it is cute machinima, some of it punches heavy like official product. This would absolutely scan as a cinematic teaser for a limited time event like "Plunderstorm" and I'm honestly sad that it doesn't.

"This has been my personal project for the past seven months," Hurricane writes in the video description: "It has been me and my team's way of improving our 3D skills in order to test various 3D pipeline tools and scripts to assist in WoW's machinima production The results of our work.

Hurricane has also released a making-of video that gives a little insight into this process of production. Spoiler alert It's a lot of work. Most impressively, some of the game's more lumpy assets were straight-up reworked by Phorge, who "reworked all the vehicles to cinematic quality" and "helped get this project off the ground!" exclaims Hurricane.

The War Within may turn WoW's focus to a more character-driven story, but I can't help but be attracted to the ideas that are buzzing under the hood. Instead of setting aside tensions, the Horde and the Alliance might be able to fight in a controlled environment. In other words, blow each other up on the runway. It would be more productive than setting fire to a tree.
