The Sims 4 is finally putting an end to my Create-A-Sim suffering with this new time-saving menu option.

For those of you enjoying Create-A-Sim, the suffering is finally over: the next base game update for The Sims 4 will add an “Apply All” button to your sim's makeup, accessories, and hairstyles. This new option, along with other quality of life improvements, will appear next week with The Sims 4 Lovestruck expansion.

Previously, choosing accessories and makeup for your Sim's various outfits was a nightmare and a waste of time. Heaven forbid if you want all of your sims to wear the same style of glasses for all of their outfits, or 6 out of 8 outfits, because they take their glasses off when they sleep or swim. You have to click on each outfit, go to the head accessories, and in some cases scroll back and forth to make sure you are actually picking the right glasses. More than once I have had a sim wear one outfit while wearing another pair of glasses.

Then repeat this process for all other facial customizations, including hair, glasses, earrings, eye shadow, eyeliner, lipstick, blush, etc. Do this for a total of 8 outfits. I don't spend much time on Create-A-Sim. It is so tedious to put everything together. This change literally saves me a few minutes. But those minutes felt like hours.

Maxis showed off the magical new “Apply All” button on their live stream for developers today. As they demonstrated, you can also be more specific by selecting a checkbox for the outfit to which you want to apply the item. Now, finally, I can confidently choose a specific eyeshadow color without having to dig out eyeshadows to apply to five different outfits.

The studio demonstrated only with eyelashes (another new base game makeup category coming in the update), but said it would also work for “other elements like glasses, tops, and shoes.” In other words, it can be used on any piece of clothing, including socks and rings.

The hour-long live stream focused on many other features that will be implemented in the expanded version, as well as some updates that will be implemented in the base game. Other notable updates that will be available for free to all players include curve pools, a romantic boundary system, and the representation of gender-neutral relationships such as “spouses.”

Maxis has not revealed what date the base game update will take place, but it will likely take place a day or two before Lovestruck's launch on Thursday, July 25.
