Today is Amazon Prime Day, the Black Friday Summer League. On this day, we all gather at the Internet's biggest stores to pick from their scraps of pretty OK deals.

“Pretty OK” is my classification of Prime Day so far. My Amazon page seems to think I also want a new air fryer and a 1TB SD card (more storage is never a bad thing, but an air fryer is definitely too much). If you are looking for a modest PC upgrade, the best deal is actually outside of Amazon. Yes, Prime Day is now a bigger event than Amazon: Newegg, Best Buy, and even Walmart are conveniently holding sales, some of them better than others.

These are GPU deals under $500, an arbitrary number I chose. I have no need for an RTX 4090 class card. Just thinking about MSRP stresses me out. If your favorite game is a low maintenance shooter like Counter Strike 2 or Overwatch and you don't want to push the limits of 4K, you've come to the right place.
