'w' key is broken and very painful. Not surprising how much of a pain this is, considering it is the forward button in many games, but I don't want to recombine any keys because everything else on my keyboard is working fine. But frankly, I'm running out of ways to justify my standstill to my friends who play games with me. So I'm going to use Prime Day as an excuse to be a better friend and look around at the best gaming keyboards.

I am very particular about my gaming keyboards. It's so I can keep up with the typically rapid-fire, chaotic battles in Overwatch 2 and Fortnite. In practice, however, I'm happy as long as the keys are smooth. That's why the cursed lubricated keyboard stands out as my favorite. If I'm only looking at this list of want features, the ASUS ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless, currently $30 off on Amazon, would be a great bet.

I'm not using the ASUS ROG Strix Scope II right now, but my current keyboard, an Akko one-piece themed set, did not come with pre-lubricated switches, which made their care a bit cumbersome.

But alas, I am human, and it is not enough for a keyboard to have all the features I want. Everyone has their own definition of cool, so maybe the sleek black look of the ASUS ROG Strix Scope II is exactly what you're looking for.

So, with this in mind, the Razer Huntsman V2 TKL Tenkeyless is probably my top choice. Despite being a bit older and coming out in 2021, I still think it's a great option and meets all my needs. Also, it's $51 on Amazon right now, which is not something to turn your nose up at.

You can even build your own keyboard and customize it with your favorite keycaps and switches. If you are particular about your preferences, this could be a great idea. One of my favorite places to find cool keycaps and switches is Higround, and while there are no Prime Day specials, they are currently having a summer sale with up to 30% off keyboards, and some Base 65 Keyboards are available for under $100. These are still pricey, but if they are within your budget, I highly recommend checking them out.

I would prefer to use one of these great options, but I really think my friend's patience is starting to wear thin. Not only have I lost competitive games by stopping inches away from the objective just before going into overtime, but I have literally dragged them down with me while playing the new co-op parkour game, Chained Together. Maybe I'm just set in my ways, but honestly, maybe this is a good time to let go of this stubbornness and get a keyboard that actually works.
