Over the weekend in “Helldiver 2,” Super Earth's tireless army proved that narrow victories bring the sweetest rewards: when a major order demanding the liberation of three planets seemed doomed to failure, the Helldivers pulled off a stunning last-minute victory.
The Major Order in question asked the Helldivers to secure Charbal VII, Sharon Prime, and Choepessa IV while the automaton's defenses were temporarily down. When the operation entered its final hours, Helldiver secured Charbal VII and Sharon Prime, but Choepessa IV was stubbornly unconquered by the freedom and sustained bombardment.
But if Helldivers 2 players have shown anything, it is a tendency to focus their efforts and arsenal when a galactic war effort is called for, especially when their galactic map has a big flashing “come here, do something for extra medals” crosshair. The Helldivers mobilized their forces and pushed Choepessa IV to within a few percent of liberation.
In a congratulatory telegram from Super Earth High Command, Arrowhead Community Manager Mitchell Eyre emphasized how close the Hell Divers' victory was. By releasing Choepessa IV 42 minutes before the major order failure, the Helldivers won with less than one percent of the 72-hour operational timer remaining.
“This display of determination and grit,” Ayers wrote, “shows that when Lady Liberty comes calling, never underestimate the efficiency and courage of the Helldivers. In honor of this surprise success, Arrowhead has made the EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit stratagem available to all Helldivers for free for a limited time. The second mech stratagem added to Helldivers 2, the EXO-49, is an armored enemy It features a pair of autocannons for masticating armored enemies.
That's not the only Helldivers news this week. Earlier today, Arrowhead released “The Escalation of Freedom,” the next update for Helldivers 2. It will add new enemies, new mission types, and an even tougher difficulty level. Exciting times if you like shooting tentacles.
