I knew it - the last boss of "The Elden Ring Shadow of the Elder Tree" has a hitbox as big as a barn door.

Overall, Shadow of the Erdtree lived up to expectations. It was one of From Software's best expansions (it received a high 95 in the "Shadow of the Erdtree" review), and naturally it sparked a lot of discourse. One of them was that "the bosses are harder than usual" - wait a minute, that's my article. Hey, hey.

Listen, even though I was proven wrong by the Elden Ring players who (obviously, spoiling the DLC's rathole) two-tapped the Promised Consort Ladder with a bottle of perfume, every guy in armor got a 100-level combo, an exploding AoEs that explode, and From Software's new standard of equipping players with a level of offensive power normally reserved for MOBA players, the fact remains that the Eldestree's last boss is a step above the rest.

If you struggled as I did, one point of validation might be the comprehensive failure of Radahn's hitbox as an undisputed fact.

As YouTuber TheKevDev explains in the following short piece, Radahn's hitbox goes far beyond the actual model of the weapon. That boy's sword has a phantom girth.

The YouTuber's complaint was also shared on Reddit, where a particularly egregious freeze frame can be seen that really illustrates the problem. Supposedly, there is a ghostly 12-15 inch radarn sticking out of the tip of the blade.

Fortunately, From Software has already patched Ladern's hitbox, but was forced to change course because the boss was a little too easy. So it's the same thing again."

(Joking aside, From Software has yet to do the same for Promised Consort Radahn.)

While this boss hitbox has been a known bugbear for some time (as Kotaku reported earlier this month), the whole debacle is certainly news to me, as it is to players of the game's subreddit in the aforementioned post: "I KNEW HIS HITBOXES WERE WEIRD!" !" exclaimed one of the players, who probably got down on his knees and cursed the heavens to hate Bale. Meanwhile, user TheWither129 writes: "Personally, I don't think this was ever noticeable, but that was fucking huge. It's a bit much.

I especially like The KevDev's follow-up, where he makes the laddern progressively more transparent (first his weapon, then the entire model) to emphasize his point. 'He has the same attack and hitbox. He's passive aggressive. Perhaps he saw something in the fact that the big shield-wielding monster was tanking every hit.
