Warframe is gearing up for its wildest expansion yet with "The Lotus Eaters" update on August 21.

Warframe: What's going on in 1999? Prototype Warframe, boy bands, dating ...... Lots of strange things appear. It's all coming in the winter of 2024, and Digital Extremes is already gearing up for it with the next update, The Lotus Eaters, which will be available on August 21.

Expect a new quest, albeit a short one, that calls for Lotus to investigate "strange but familiar sounds" in Deimos. Maybe it's one of the hit singles from On-lyne, one of the most popular boy bands of 1999, introduced at TennoCon in July.

Everything is, of course, connected to the past, and players will be able to go back in time and live a life of extremes unique to just before the turn of the millennium: motorcycles, pop, floppy haircuts, and chatting with your girlfriend on IM. It certainly resembles my experience in '99, except for the motorcycle and the monster fight.

In addition to this prologue quest comes Sevagoth Prime, a Prime Access bundle for Sevagoth (at least the complete one) that includes a Warframe, several Prime weapons for the frame, and the Nautilus Prime sentinel (also included in the bundle). There will also be more cosmetics, including masks, wings, and tail attachments for headpieces, glyphs, and sentinels.

After a long hiatus from playing, the 1999 announcement brought me back to Warframe, a ridiculous and confusing game with an impeccable atmosphere and incredible battles. I've been sickening everyone with Nidus Prime's Warframe and after many attempts, I've found a frame I really like. Just look at this funky edgeload.

[10] If you didn't see last month's TennoCon, you can learn a little more about the 1999 release breakdown and why Digital Extremes decided to add romance to Operation Space Ninja.
