If you asked me to name two of the best horror games of all time, "Dead by Daylight" and "Five Nights at Freddy's" would undoubtedly be the first two names that come to mind, despite the fact that I've never played either. The former firmly established itself as one of the most popular asymmetrical multiplayer games, while the latter rewired the brains of teenagers and Twitch streamers alike. Even we gave "Five Nights at Freddy's" a high score of 80% in our review.
So it's surprising that somehow these two juggernauts have never crossed paths. Until now, that is; GamesRadar has discovered that the crossover is scheduled for next summer. That's a lot of notice for a collaboration, and this must mean that something pretty big is in the works.
As to what the crossover is or if it is interactive, who knows. The announcement was teased by the ScottGames Twitter account and an official announcement was posted by the Dead by Daylight account. As hilarious and terrifying as it is to see Freddy Fazbear alongside the likes of Freddy Krueger, Pyramid Head, and Leatherface, it remains to be seen if FNAF will be a part of the "Dead by Daylight" merchandise lineup.
Even without experience with both games, this is a pretty exciting collaboration. Judging by the Twitter reactions to the announcement, even those who are much more attached to the game than I am seem to be quite pleased. Indeed, despite my friends who enjoy DbD actively trying to convince me not to let Dead by Daylight take over my life, I've been eager to give Dead by Daylight a try. Also, when Five Nights at Freddy's was first released, I regrettably avoided promoting it. I guess I was just out of the demographic to blast it, and as someone who didn't become a regular Twitch user until 2020, it flew right under my radar. Perhaps a massive collaboration like this could be the push I needed to try one or both games.
