During the holidays, more restricted military material was leaked on the War Thunder forum than is customary.

Zero days have passed since someone leaked military information via the War Thunder forums, the hub where military-minded people post about their most favorite free-to-play military hardware simulators. Another leak in a game that has become synonymous with leaks of classified and restricted material from the modern military community.

This leak comes after the recent addition of the Eurofighter Typhoon, and after a forum discussion over its impressive CAPTOR radar system scanning capabilities, someone posted restricted documents to prove their point. This resulted in them being banned from posting and the material being removed. This has happened to everyone else who has ever posted anything of this sort, and to be clear, this game is very well known at this point.

According to the community manager of the War Thunder forum, this is something that should not be done:

“I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate to everyone here that under no circumstances can a source be legally declassified and publicly and safely used Please do not attempt to post or share sources unless you are 100% certain that they are legally declassified and can be used safely in public. We will never handle or use them, and attempting to use them will only actively harm any possible future changes. Please do not ever do this. It will never be good for you or the vehicle you are trying to post,” they said.

The news was quickly picked up by reputable defense websites such as the UK Defence Journal.

Holiday leaks have become a tradition at this point and are frankly hysterical. It was the same last year. We published such an article last September. That was when the Eurofighter Typhoon documents were first leaked.

I honestly feel sorry for the moderators over there, who just want to create a fun military sim community without getting caught up in international spy politics.

Anyway, a few personal comments: if you want to work in the military or defense field, I suggest you don't play War Thunder, or at least don't post about it on the forum. Or at least don't post about it in the forums.
