'Stardew Valley' Patch Fixes Swearing, But Still No Divorce

Stardew Valley patch 1.6.15 has been released for PC, Android, and iOS, fixing various small bugs: “Fixed bad word filtering in some text boxes added in 1.6. With the caveat that” they are now filtered only on platforms that require it, as originally intended.” It says. Which means, God willing, you can swear all you want on your own personal computer, on your own personal Stardew Valley.

As Stardew developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone shared on social media, Stardew's latest update was delivered on PC, Android, and iOS: You can't get a divorce without crashing the game. Too bad. Oh well, be patient.

The patch includes only one balance change: eggs now come out of the legendary fishing pond more often. I think this is correct. It's a pond with legendary fish. It wouldn't be very legendary to have fewer eggs, would it?

In March 2024, something wonderful happened for Stardew fans: the Stardew Valley 1.6 update. It added mayonnaise, a new kind of farm, three new festivals, an 8-player multiplayer game, new late-game content, and just about everything else. A lot, really.

In other words, even though Barone thought he was done, he added a lot of new stuff anyway with the 1.6.9 patch last month. This is consistent with what he said shortly thereafter, that he could “work on it for the rest of my life.”

Anyway, if you read all this, you won't be too surprised to learn that this week PC Gamer gave Stardew Valley the award for Best Ongoing Game of 2024.

“Our favorite games that made us want to come back were the ones that never once asked for money: no FOMO, no DLC, not even a microtransaction in sight...No FOMO, no DLC, not even a microtransaction. Just a very popular game that keeps getting bigger and better,” said Global Editor-in-Chief Phil Savage.
