At this year's Game Awards, Bethesda's Todd Howard and prolific voice actor Troy Baker, along with Harrison Ford himself, presented the best performance award to Melina Jurgens for her role in “Hellblade 2.” Before that, however, Ford had praised Baker's performance as Indiana Jones in MachineGames' latest film, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.”
“I think the guy did a great job,” Ford said, pointing to Baker before shaking his hand. 'If I had known he was so good, I would have done it myself!'
“I'm sure he'd have done it himself!
And it must be said that the praise was well deserved. Not only does Baker faithfully reproduce Ford's voice, but he does so with the charisma, humor, and range of emotion that one would expect from Indy with ease.
This is probably just a joke on Ford's part, but one wonders how comfortable he would be with actually voicing the main character of a video game. He seems to have a lot of affection for Indiana Jones, more so than for any other iconic role, but dubbing a video game seems like something that an actor of his temperament and generation would just not be comfortable with. This is in contrast to his “Star Wars” co-star Mark Hamill, who has a second life as a voice actor, many of which are video game roles.
By all accounts, Troy Baker must be feeling good right now. How many actors can not only take on a basic role but also say “Hey, good hustle champ” to a legendary performer who has taken up the baton?
