Earlier this week, it was revealed that third-party giant Capcom's internal systems were hacked. The ransomware is software designed to leak information from internal networks and encrypt that information.

Bleeping Computer broke the news and was able to access a sample of Ragnar Locker ("proof" provided by the hacker to the victim). There it is written: "We are not the only ones who have seen the Ragnar Locker.

"We were able to breach your security perimeter and gain access to all of the servers on your company's network located in various offices in Japan, the United States, and Canada.

"Therefore, we downloaded over 1TB of your confidential data:

"-accounting files, bank statements, confidential budget and income files, tax documents

"-intellectual property, proprietary business information, customer and employee personal information (passports, visas etc.), incident acts

"-Corporate contracts and agreements, non-disclosure agreements, confidentiality agreements, sales summaries

"-We also have your private corporate correspondence, email and messenger conversations, marketing presentations, audit reports and other have a lot of confidential information

"If no transaction takes place, all data will be made public and/or sold through auction to any third party. "

According to malware researcher Pancak3, hackers are demanding $11 million in bitcoins for the decryption key. Such an amount is roughly equivalent to the other large Ragnar Locker hack of beverage maker Campari, announced yesterday, where ZDNet reports the demand is about $15 million.

The independent MalwareHunterTeam also confirmed that Ragnar Locker was behind the Capcom hack, adding that both hacks had the same digital signature.
