One of the biggest indie hits of 2019, the utterly charming puzzle stealth game Untitled Goose Game celebrates its first birthday on Sunday, but the fun this quirky little game has to offer is far from over. A free update will add local multiplayer to all platforms, allowing players to revisit all levels of the original with friends to share the mayhem.
The two-player mode has been known about for a month, but developer House House tweeted new information yesterday.
Yes, while many co-op modes end up being content with duplicating the character model of the single player protagonist, Goose #2 actually has quite a few subtle attributes that make it different from Goose #1. In addition to a slightly tinier honk to my ears, the new goose has legs and a slightly pinkish-orange beak that contrasts with the lighter color of the original goose.
The game's multiplayer trailer further suggests that the new goose will be able to pick up the same blue bow as the red bow that the original goose got over the course of the story. This will not only make it easier to play with friends without confusing which character you are controlling, but more importantly, it is really, really adorable.
The free multiplayer update for Untitled Goose Game will be released on all platforms on September 23. On the same day, the game will also be available on Steam and itch.io, ending the Epic Game Store exclusivity on PC.
