Sam and Max have had a long and illustrious history on the PC, from LucasArts' dotty adventure "Sam & Max Hit the Road" to Telltale's 3D adventure game series.

And now the infamous freelance police duo is venturing into a new medium: virtual reality, with Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual, due out in 2021. Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell is consulting on the story, art, and game design, and the freelance police will once again be voiced by David Nowlin and Dave Boat.

"After decades of rescuing Bigfoots, playing high-stakes poker with B-list celebrities, and defending reality from cosmic nogdniks, the world-famous dog-and-rabbit thing is on a recruitment drive to fatten up the Freelance Police crew... And they've come to your aid!" said Happy Giant, the developer.

"Dive headfirst into the funky world of virtual reality, where Sam and Max will test your mettle and push you through an almost irrelevant gauntlet of training courses designed to break your brain... And watch out for hidden threats lurking in the training arena that could bring ruin to us all!" ...
