Despite the ever-increasing body count in the series, "Assassin's Creed" is usually not very gory, but that is about to change in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." We've already seen quite a bit of Avor's flamboyant and brutal killing spree in England, but we'll also get to see the damage up close.
Toward the end of the gameplay overview trailer released on July 12, we see Eivor assassinate someone, kick that person to the ground, and then stab a hidden blade into his chest. At this point, the blade shatters bone and penetrates organs, showing their innards in grisly detail. It looked like a cinematic touch made for a trailer, but it is in fact a feature that can be triggered on its own.
Originally reported by Access The Animus, game director Benoit Richer confirmed that it occurs "during gameplay," so you can actually see it.
This is a familiar feature in "Mortal Kombat" and is truly gruesome, but it has also been used to great effect in the "Sniper Elite" and "Zombie Army" series, and is even more ridiculous in those games. I don't think there is a scene in "Valhalla" where testicles are stabbed, but you never know.
If you still can't get enough of the "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" trailer, here's a trailer for the new character that sets the stage for Avor's misadventures.
