At an investor event at the New York Toy Fair, Hasbro announced that Baldur's Gate 3 will be coming to Early Access later this year. The presentation featured seven Dungeons & Dragons-based games in development, including Baldur's Gate 3 and Dark Alliance. Plans call for one D&D-based game to be released each year through 2025. Hasbro is the parent company of Wizards of the Coast, which licensed Dungeons & Dragons and Baldur's Gate to Larian Studios, which is producing the third game in the series.
Larian Studios is accustomed to Early Access releases. Divinity Original Sin 2 released a limited story in Early Access prior to the full-length release. According to the announcement, "Baldur's Gate 3" will be available in Early Access later this year.
The news comes after Wizards of the Coast opened and began staffing a new studio, Archetype Entertainment, comprised primarily of Bioware Austin veterans.
