In December 2018, Mike Laidlaw announced that he had joined Ubisoft Quebec, the studio behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey and For Honor, and was currently working on the lighthearted open world game Gods and Monsters. Now, exactly one year later, he is leaving, wishing "good luck with future ventures, including the upcoming Gods and Monsters."

Prior to joining Ubisoft Quebec, Laidlaw worked for BioWare as creative director on "Dragon Age 2" and "The Inquisition," lead writer on "Jade Empire" and designer on the first "Mass Effect." In total, he spent 14 years at the company.

Ubisoft recently reorganized its editorial team and canceled games that were in development at Ubisoft Montreal after disappointing sales of "The Division 2" and "Ghost Recon Breakpoint."
