Dying Light players get free Battle Royale spinoff

Techland's up-close-and-personal zombie-killing "Dying Light" is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. In the five years since its launch, Techland has provided excellent support. Continuing that tradition, there are extras for all players.

If you own the PC or console versions of Dying Light, you can get Dying Light for free: Bad Blood Honestly, I thought this game was dead. This battle royale spin-off launched in Early Access in 2018 and it was pretty good too. There are only 12 players, not 100, but countless zombies and hives to destroy in order to level up. The small size, emphasis on melee combat, and the return of Dying Light's excellent parkour set it apart from other battle royales. Unfortunately, however, it never caught on.

While the game got a bit of a boost at launch, daily player counts quickly dropped below 100, and over the last year the game has barely found enough people to play a single 12-player game. Techland has been silent about "Bad Blood" for nearly a year now, and has not made any updates since March. It's a shame, because it was highly anticipated.

Hopefully, the free offer will give this game some life. It's already having an effect: according to the Steam chart, 347 people were playing together as of an hour ago, almost back to the peak player count at launch. Not a mind-boggling number, but more than enough to get a lot of games going. Let's take a quick trip back to nostalgia.

All you need to do to get your free copy is go to the Techland site, log in or register, and link the account with which you purchased "Dying Light." Once completed, a Steam code for "Bad Blood" will be issued.

Techland is still working on Dying Light 2 as well, but recently delayed the sequel and has not said when it will appear.
