I am always skeptical of price discounts on Dell systems. Often, price cuts are just to bring them in line with other desktops on the market. This time, however, the Dell G5 gaming PC with serious hardware for ray-traced gaming is a real bargain.
The configuration in question has a list price of $1,748.99 and a sale price of $1,508.99. This is a bit more reasonable, but if you enter the coupon code 200OFF1599 at checkout, the price drops to $1,308.99. At this price, it's a better deal than our recently introduced budget gaming PC in the $1,000+ category.
This setup includes a Core i7-9700 processor (8 core/8 threads, 3GHz-4.7GHz, 12MB L3 cache), GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD for storage + 1TB HDD.
My only drawback is the 256GB SSD. It's on the low side for a gaming PC (I want 512GB or 1TB), but at least it also has a 1TB HDD. Dell offers storage upgrades, and for $100, you can upgrade the SSD to 512GB while keeping the HDD. [Since SSD deals are fairly common, we do not recommend either option; a 512GB M.2 SSD can easily be found for around $50 and a 1TB M.2 SSD for around $100 to replace the main drive in this system while leaving the HDD in place.
Either way, this is a bargain for a pre-built system and will be able to handle the increased number of ray-traced games available.
