According to a forum update, 343 Industries will begin the first public test of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary next month; the next test of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, or Flight, was previously scheduled for January, but it appears that only 343's outside partners will get to test it this month."

The first test will be broad, covering a variety of systems and modes; 343 wants to test dedicated servers, cross-play, a new UI, and give testers a taste of single-player and co-op campaigns, multiplayer, customization, progression The company hopes to.

There seems to be a lot to test, but players cannot be left out in the wild. If they are able to participate, access to certain areas will be restricted, as was the case with last year's "Halo Reach" test. Combat Evolved is a little less promising, though, because it's one of the few entries in the series that can actually be played on the PC. That said, this is the first time we'll be able to play the 2011 Anniversary Edition.

Those who have already tested "Halo Reach" should already be set up. Those who wish to participate in the testing will need to sign up for the Halo Insider program and provide a DXDIAG uploaded to their profile in order to participate in the testing and to be contacted by 343 Industries. If you are not able to participate in the first test, there will likely be other opportunities later on.

No release date has been set, but the entire collection will be available on PC in 2020.
