Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana arrived on PC in April 2018, and despite months of delays leading up to its release, it was in rough shape when it arrived. Several quick patches followed, and by June of that year the worst of the problems had been resolved, and the "mostly favorable" user reviews on Steam suggest that the worst of the problems had been resolved.

Today, a major update by Peter "Durante" Toman has improved graphics, performance, and overall stability, as well as added an experimental two-player co-op mode. To include a second player, there must be at least two people in the party. It seems a bit limited, requiring two or more characters in the party to join, spirit points are shared, the second player does not benefit from "AI cheats" like AI-controlled characters, and troubleshooting is limited to limited support as none of this is officially supported, but it is possible to enjoy a game with Bud that was previously This is a way to enjoy the game with Bud that was not available before.

The new "Ys 8: Dana's Treasures" update is available now. It is also available on Steam for half price ($30/£22.50/€27.50) until January 20. The changelog is as follows.
