"The wildfires currently ravaging Australia are devastating. Many people have lost their homes, firefighters risk their lives every day, and an estimated hundreds of millions of wild animals have been killed in the fires. We have launched a fundraising campaign called "Guardians for Australia" to support Australian firefighting and animal rescue and conservation efforts. [The shirts will be sold for $25/€28, with half of the proceeds going to the New South Wales Regional Fire Service and the other half to WIRES, Australia's largest wildlife rescue organization.

Australia has been struggling for months to cope with devastating bushfires burning across the country. Millions of hectares have burned, an estimated one billion animals have been lost (including endangered species that may be driven to extinction), thousands of people have been forced to evacuate, and nearly 30 people have died so far.

In yesterday's This Week at Bungie update, Destiny 2 Studios revealed plans to raise funds to support firefighters and conservation efforts through the sale of limited edition t-shirts. The t-shirts will be available for pre-order on the Bungie Store from January 16 until the weekly reset on February 18 at 9 a.m. (12 p.m. CST); Bungie said it is still working on the design but will release a "preview" early next week.

"Half of the profits from the sale of the shirts will go to WIRES, Australia's largest wildlife rescue organization, and half will go to the NSW Regional Fire Service, which was affected by the fires.

"Over the past 20 years, the Bungy community has been a wonderful force for good in our world by raising millions of dollars to help people in difficult circumstances," said Senior Foundation Manager Christine Edwards

"We are proud to be a part of this project.

"In addition to helping thousands of children through our iPad for Kids program, we have assisted victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey and donated to those affected by the earthquakes in Haiti, Japan and Nepal. Time and time again, you have been Guardians when others needed you most"

.

As MCV reported in November, the Bungie Foundation's first Game2give campaign raised over $1.6 million to support the iPad for Kids Program and Children's Miracle Network. More information on how to support the Australian fundraising efforts will be revealed in next week's TWAB update.
