Monster Hunter: World "Iceborne" patch to fix CPU and save issues

Monster Hunter World Iceborn has been a huge success for Capcom's PC game, but it hasn't been entirely smooth. Players have complained of performance issues, matchmaking problems, and most importantly, saves are easily lost.

Capcom acknowledged the issue on Twitter today, announcing the upcoming release of a patch aimed at addressing Iceborne's "unusually high CPU usage during active gameplay" and "incompatible save game issues."

Steam's announcement regarding the loss of saves confirms that the issue is due to changes made in the October 2018 update that added Kulve Taroth to the game. Capcom has advised that players affected by this issue "Failed to read saved data for Monster Hunter World: Iceborn. Please create new saved data.

Unfortunately, there is no indication of a possible fix for players who have already pressed the "Y" button. My guess is that the data has already been erased, so the only option is to continue with a new game or go straight into the extended version of Iceborne using something like the MHWSaveTransfer utility and an Iceborne Ready save file.

A patch will be released "soon," but no firm date has been set yet.
