Intel has announced the next small PC in its NUC series: the Intel NUC 9 Extreme Kit, or Ghost Canyon NUC, was unveiled at CES and appears to be a significant upgrade over the previous model. It is slightly larger than the router-sized NUC 8, but still ridiculously small for a gaming PC.
One of the biggest differences between the Ghost Canyon and its predecessor is that it is not limited to what comes in the box; the GhostCanyon comes with an i9 processor, but you can eventually upgrade the CPU. Its size also means that it can be equipped with an appropriate desktop GPU, which opens up even more upgrade possibilities.
Details are still unknown at this time, but given that this is an enthusiast's kit, it seems like the right way to make it a bit more future-proof and moddable, and a much better alternative to a desktop PC than the NUC 8. Usually you have to add your own storage and RAM, which seems likely to be the case here as well.
