Cyberspace in the "System Shock" remake looks like EDM descending.

In the original "System Shock," you jack into a cyberspace terminal and are transported to a floating wireframe reality of security constructs and programs; at the time in 1994, it seemed surreal and high-concept, but a bit baffling and not very good looking. It was a bit baffling and not very good looking. Since then, however, it has really shined, and in the remake of System Shock, it looks like the descent of EDM.

Nightdive Studios unveiled the new look of Cyberspace for the first time over the weekend, and as with their other work, the makeover was an important one. It still floats in a blocky 3D space and the programs still move around, but the whole thing is wrapped in neon and has a pulsating texture that makes it look like you've hacked into a nightclub.

Judging from the footage, both navigation and shooting appear to be less laborious than in the previous 1994 film, and the virtual entertainment is faster and more smoothly paced. And although the enemies in the video are less numerous and less aggressive, they are still frenetic and seem considerably more thrilling, at least compared to the original.

If you are more interested in flesh space, the cyberspace preview was accompanied by an introduction to the System Shock limb amputation system. Anything that can be shot on the space station can be blown up into small chunks, giving you a good look at what's inside.

Night Dive has not yet confirmed a release date for System Shock, but it will be available soon. Until then, an alpha demo is available for download from Steam and GOG.
