Rocket League" for Linux/Mac Loses Online Multiplayer

Psyonix will end ongoing support for Rocket League on Linux and MacOS. The patch, which will be released in early March, will eliminate the online component of the game, but local matches and split-screen play will continue to function.

"We want Rocket League to be the best experience for all players," Psyonix wrote in a statement. This includes adapting to new technologies." This has made it difficult to support macOS and Linux (SteamOS). For this reason, we plan to have final patches for these versions available in early March."

Of course, Steam game owners can easily download the Windows version, and while Psyonix does not officially support Apple's Boot Camp, this is one way to continue playing online on Apple systems. On the other hand, for Linux users, Psyonix encourages users to try Proton or Wine.

Almost all features related to online will disappear in March (see list below). You will still have access to the workshop maps and custom training packs that you have already downloaded, but you will not have access to the new ones. The same goes for items in the garage; what you have will remain, but the item store will no longer be available.
